Narcissus Mosaic Virus?

What’s happened here? Is it a genetic mutation of a narcissus or mosaic virus (I searched Google for ‘mottled narcissus’). I’m asking because I have a few flowers like this and wonder if I need to destroy the bulbs? There’s no discolouring at all to the stem and leaves.

Hiya! Does it have blotches or streaks on the leaves too?

Hi Jack, no markings on the leaves at all.

Hmm, it does look like it, it’s one of the main symptoms having the colour of the flower break like that.

Hi,

I have never come across this in the garden before, but have read about it. I would say it is mosaic virus but unusual for the stems and leaves not do mottle. I quite like the effect.

I’m really puzzled too because there’s not a single bit of the leaves affected. I’ve also just thought that the other bulbs planted with them (‘Binkie’ I think) aren’t affected at all - so is it a virus or not?? All very puzzling.

Like Nick I think it looks quite nice but I personally wouldn’t risk it and would remove it to be sure I think.
