Growing kale for the first time and have found powdery mildew on the leaves. If I pick them and wash them well in water are they still edible?
Is it definitely powdery mildew and not whitefly?
Thanks for responding. It is, yes, I’ve compared to pictures online. It is on the underside of the leaves. Not loads. There is also whitefly! I’ve cleaned and leaves are drying now and look in good condition.
I suspect it’s just whitefly powder as that is found on the underside of the leaves and I’ve never seen powdery mildew on brassicas - I could be wrong but I do suspect that’s what it is. Either way to answer your question, you can wash it off. Soak in salted water for a little while and then most will wash off and the rest will come of with a sponge or cloth.
Thank you! Really appreciate that. Good luck with the new farm!
